Methods to Solve the Noise Problem of Slewing Ring Bearing

The common noises of slewing bearings are from dust and scars. The solutions to these two noises are as follows:


(1) The control method of dust noise


When there is foreign matter such as dust in the slewing ring bearing, non-periodic vibration occurs. This is the sound of the dust, and the magnitude of vibration and noise is variable and sometimes absent.


Control method of dust sound: Improve the cleaning method of slewing ring bearings/rotary table bearing, and strictly clean all the bearings, shafts, bearing block holes and spare parts before installation; remove foreign matter in the lubricant; improve the sealing of the bearings; avoid using raw or plastic support frame embedded with foreign matter.


(2) The control method of scar sound


If the rolling surface of the slewing ring bearing has cracks, indentations or corrosion, periodic vibration and noise like riveting rivets will occur. The period may be fixed, but most of them have a certain corresponding relationship with the speed. Scars will occur continuously on the channel. The scars appear on the steel ball from time to time, and this kind of noise varies with the installation and lubrication conditions. The control method of this kind of noise: do not knock the bearing during installation, and prevent the bearing from being installed obliquely when the bearing and shaft are assembled into the bearing seat; prevent bearing corrosion during storage and prevent shock and vibration during transportation; as well as use high-viscosity grease.


(3) Select appropriate lubricant


The noise caused by the lubrication factors and the countermeasures, such as incorrect selection of lubricant, insufficient lubricant or aging hardening, can lead to vibration and noise of slewing ring bearing/rotary table bearing. And this kind of noise has no certain regularity. In this case, the problem can only be solved by selecting a suitable lubricant, adjusting the amount of lubricant, extending the service life of the lubricant and reasonably determining the replacement cycle.


(4) Noise related to the host and its countermeasures


This kind of noise is not simply caused by the bearing, so it is invalid to find the cause from the bearing alone. The host should be fully paid attention to, and the performance of the host should be improved if necessary. Now, we mainly describe the common buzzer and frame resonance sound in motors.


A. Motor buzzer and its countermeasures: The axial vibration of the motor shaft will cause a lot of high-frequency noise - the buzzer, the frequency of which is the same as the axial vibration frequency, which can be constant or variable. The method of preventing buzzing is the same as that of preventing axial vibration.


B. The bearing frame resonance sound and its countermeasures: When the axial bending natural vibration of the bearing frame is caused by the axial natural vibration of the outer ring mass, a kind of noise called resonance sound is generated. The method of adding preload can improve the axial natural frequency of the outer ring mass system, destroy the resonance condition and reduce the noise.
